Objective

The ISI Young Statisticians Workshop (YS-ISI2017) aims to bring together and to promote the active participation of early career statisticians who are attending the ISI WSC 2017. The workshop will offer opportunities to meet each other, to share and discuss ways to improve the access to knowledge, to share experiences, and to promote scientific and professional collaborations.

 

Venue

The ISI Young Statisticians Workshop (YS-ISI2017) will be held in The Palais des Congrès - Mansour Eddahbi, Marrakech, Morocco, on the July 16, 2017, preceding the ISI WSC 2017. Further useful information can be found here.

Tentative Schedule (Subject to Change)

  • 08h00-09h00: Registration
  • 09h00-09h15: Opening remarks
  • 09h15-10h15: Keynote Speaker: Vijay Nair (Professor of Statistics at the University of Michigan; ISI President 2013-2015)
  • 10h15-10h45: Coffee break
  • 10h45-12h00: Research equivalent of speed dating (participants are paired up for a short time to discuss their research interests for up to 4 minutes). The process will be repeated for teaching interests and work/consulting interests. Goal: to find at least one new collaborator.
  • 12h00-12h10: Comfort break
  • 12h10-12h35: Break into smaller regional groups to discuss what these groups would like (services, programs, etc.) from the YS Committee in particular and from the ISI in general
  • 12h35-13h00: Bring group back together and have each small group report on what was discussed in each small group with a goal of producing a short report for ISI/EC
  • 13h00-13h05: Closing remarks
  • 13h05-15h00: Lunch
  • 16h00-         : Opening Ceremony of the ISI WSC 2017.
